Films come in all shapes and sizes. But if you’re like li’l ol’ me, you enjoy movies that reflect your own passions. And, of course, one of my many passions is writing.

Although I have always enjoyed writing as a creative outlet, it wasn’t always my career. Like most young college students, I was not sure what I wanted to do with my life. I had so many interests, and I didn’t want to commit to one subject area forever. After earning my degree in liberal arts, my deep love for animals led me to a job at a local animal hospital. As I gained more experience, my career as a veterinary assistant took hold. I found the work rewarding, especially when it came to helping owners keep their pets healthy.
Unfortunately, over time I found that many veterinarians seemed to place far more emphasis on their profit line than on providing compassionate care to their patients and clients. This change in focus prompted me to bow out of the field after 15 years and change my career.
Although I took an indirect path, my experiences in veterinary care enabled me to take on a writing career that has proven to be even more rewarding. [Read more…]
