The hardest part of writing an article is coming up with the right idea. That’s why we are here to help you form a plan before you sit down to write. There are many resources online that can inspire you to create engaging posts for topics ranging from pool tables to car recycling.
Realize your first idea is probably not your best idea.
If you get the keyword “dentist” in the dental category, your first response may be to write about what dentists are, or how to become a dentist. Remember, your potential readers are searching for the keyword, and you need to discern why they are searching for it. People who search “dentists” probably aren’t wondering what a dentist is, nor are they probably trying to get into dental school.
Spending a little more time checking out trends, ideas, problems, and uncertainties in your given industry will better prepare you to generate a topic.
Think beyond the keyword.
This goes back to using keywords appropriately. Just because you need to write about “teeth whitening” does not mean you are limited to articles like “How to Whiten Your Teeth” or “Why You Should Get Your Teeth Whitened.”
You can talk about other subjects within the field of dentistry because it’s likely that your readers could be interested in those topics, too:
“5 New Trends Ruling the World of Dentistry”
“Most Popular Dental Procedures and the Problems They Correct”
“What Your Oral Health Says About Your General Health”
You can get more specific about teeth whitening:
“Why You Should Choose Light-Activated Whitening over Other Smile Solutions”
“How to Maintain Your Bright Smile after Whitening”
“3 Substances That Gray Tooth Enamel—Fast”
To write a good article, it’s likely that you’ll need to research within the industry before settling on a subject and headline.
We recommend that before you get started writing, you outline the points you want to address. (Having an outline helps your readers too.)
Don’t get too broad or veer off-topic. Although teeth whitening does involve health, a topic like “4 Ways to Improve Your Health” isn’t the best choice. However, we do encourage you to be creative and find an idea that will be helpful and fun for readers.
Make less interesting subjects interesting.
We know that not every keyword and industry will seem worth writing about. We know we have clients who operate in manufacturing industries and sell trailer hitches. These topics may, at first glance, be extremely boring.
In these cases, we can only recommend that you remember the benefits offered by these industries and types of services. Someone out in the wide world is looking for these services—and not for nothing! There are benefits attached to every service and product out there—and if you focus in on what those are, and then consider the audience that is looking for those benefits, you will have a much easier job of creating the kind of content that our clients are looking to see.

Some of your ideas will not be great. And that’s okay! It’s all part of the process of coming up with great content and learning. Take some time to research, and then settle on the idea that’s best for you, the client, and the people who will read your piece. We know you can do it.
