Welcome to summer, writers! It’s time for another WritersDomain contest. This time, we’ll be judging your poetic sensibilities with a summer poetry contest. Lean into form with a haiku or sonnet or stretch your creativity with some freeform stanzas. We want to hear about the beach, the sky, or your favorite cold treat — any of the specific summer experiences we only get during these hot months.
For this contest, we’re only accepting one entry per person, so send us your best musings on the season.
Prizes
Winner: $75
2 Runners-up: $25
Final Submission Due Date
You must enter your submission to the form below by 8 a.m. Mountain Time on Monday, August 7.
Announcement of Winners
We will announce contest winners on the blog on Friday, August 11.
Content Criteria
Keep your submission to no more than 500 words. We won’t accept poems that exceed this word count.
We’ll judge submissions with three criteria in mind:
- How seasonally-appropriate is this submission? Does it fit the theme of summer poetry?
- How interesting or inspiring is this submission?
- How well is this submission written? Is it polished, clear, and grammatically correct?
As always, keep our general contest rules in mind, and remember that WritersDomain does not accept explicit content. If you have questions about this contest, please email us at support@writersdomain.net
